Kansas City Life 100-year Commemorative Plaza

Description:

This 2,155-pound floating ball fountain features a red granite "kugel" that will spin on a thin film of water pumped from beneath a three-foot high marble base. The ball was fashioned from granite that was mined in India, is in perpetual motion and is lit at night. As an interactive piece, it invites the hand to run over its surface to reset the motion of the ball. Kansas City Life celebrated their first 100 years by placing this huge ball at their Headquarters Commemorative Plaza in 1997.
